Ekstasis is a painting created for the group exhibition Shaman – Dionysian Visions, hosted at the Scuderie Aldobrandini, Frascati. The work is inspired by the figure of the Maenads, the followers of Dionysus in Greek mythology, traditionally associated with states of ecstasy, expressive freedom and connection with the ritual and natural dimension.
The composition reinterprets this ancient imagery through a contemporary visual language, in which archaeological suggestions dialogue with more current aesthetics. The figure of the Maenad thus emerges as a symbolic presence that transcends time and culture, embodying a vital energy linked to transformation, emotional liberation, and ecstatic experience.
The work is a reflection on the relationship between myth and contemporaneity, between iconographic memory and current sensibilities, proposing a vision in which ecstasy becomes a space for expressive and symbolic search for identity.
