Wicked Game is the original illustration created by Rosmunda for the cover of issue 39 of The Belliner, the magazine of the Teatro Bellini in Naples. The work is dedicated to Pedro Lemebel's play “Ho paura torero” (I'm afraid of bullfighters), directed by Claudio Longhi and starring Lino Guanciale.
The project explores the complexities of toxic relationships and the search for an authentic identity within contemporary society. At the center of the composition emerges a hybrid figure, a bull-woman, representing the compromise between one's instinctive nature and the need for social acceptance.
This hybridization evokes the imagery of the “monstrous,” a term historically used to marginalize those who deviate from the norm, with a direct reference to the LGBTQIA+ community. The figure's posture, inspired by the sculptural group of the Farnese Bull, amplifies the tension of those struggling to adhere to rigid social conventions.
Through key symbols such as the dressing gown (an emblem of vulnerability and intimacy) and the representation of a non-binary identity, Rosmunda creates a visual bridge with Lemebel's work. The bull-woman thus becomes the manifesto of a relentless struggle between self-determination and oppression, moving in a world that often rejects diversity.
