The participatory mural "Embrace Your Inner Child" grew out of a dialogue with the women of the Asha Rising shelter home community, created in collaboration with NGO Cup of Color. During our meetings, their childhood stories brought vivid memories to the surface: time spent sowing the earth, small pranks among friends, afternoons in the fields with their animals. Fragments of everyday life, often interwoven with complex personal histories.
Despite the hardships they had faced, their stories retained lightness, humour and a strong capacity for togetherness. Over the two weeks of work, the affectionate and supportive nature of this community became unmistakably clear.
The mural is now part of the spaces they inhabit every day: a familiar image that accompanies moments of gathering, song and prayer. It is an invitation to reflect on the importance of caring for oneself and one's personal history, as a way of embracing continuity and affection at every stage of life.
