PARTICIPATORY MURAL CREATED WITH YOURBAN 2030
FOR TOYOTA MOTOR ITALIA ON THE OCCASION OF GREEN MONTH
Kaizen, the Japanese principle of continuous improvement, is the concept at the heart of this mural created for Toyota's Italian headquarters in Rome. The piece was born as a visual narrative weaving together technological innovation, cultural identity, and harmony with nature, through an accessible and shared symbolic language.
The mural develops across two walls, covering a total surface of approximately 130 square meters, taking the form of a diptych that evokes the flow of life and change. Its main references are tradition, innovation, and environmental awareness, core values to the Toyota approach.
A recurring element of the piece is water, depicted as a stream flowing across both surfaces: a symbol of vital energy, transformation, and continuity. This element also recalls the company's research into hydrogen technologies, evoking an idea of progress oriented toward sustainability and environmental harmony.
An integral part of the project was its participatory nature: during an open day held for employees' families, adults and children contributed directly to the painting process, working on the stream background with rollers and brushes. A simple but meaningful gesture, tangibly embodying the sense of continuous improvement as a collective process, built through each person's contribution.
