Cos t’ha da mirar?! is a series of ceramics created in collaboration with Studio Nautilus. The project draws inspiration from apotropaic depictions of the Gorgon Medusa, widespread in the ancient Mediterranean as symbols of protection: images placed on shields or domestic entrances with the function of warding off evil through the power of the gaze.
The title is taken from an expression in the Carrara dialect that can be translated as “What are you looking at?”, a direct and ironic phrase that reinforces the defensive and symbolic character of the object, linking mythological imagery and local identity.
The bowls were designed on private commission and develop an essential and contemporary aesthetic, in dialogue with the symbolic tradition from which they originate. The project thus explores the relationship between function, decoration, and archetypal meaning, maintaining a balance between artistic research and the everyday dimension of the object.
